How to Take a Screenshot in Windows 10

You may come across many scenarios where you might need to take a screenshot of your computer desktop. Luckily Windows gives us a few super simple built-in tools to take screenshots, no downloads necessary. Let’s take a look at how to to take a screenshot in Windows 10. 

How to Take a Screenshot in Windows 10 (Easiest)

Windows provides us with a built-in shortcut that will automatically take an save a screenshot for us. 

If you hit:

Windows Key + Print Screen (PrtSc)

The Windows Key is located at the bottom left of your keyboard, and the Print Screen button (PrtSc) is located on the top right. Once you hit this key combination, an entire screen screenshot will be taken and saved to your Pictures -> Screenshots folder. 

Solution Using Snipping Tool

If we want to take a slightly more customized screenshot, we can use a built-in tool called the Snipping Tool. This tool will allow us to take a screenshot of a specific section of our screen and then modify it afterward. 

If we hit:

Windows Key + Shift + S

When hitting this combination, you will see an overlay over your screen and will be able to select a box around the section you want to screenshot.

Once you take your screenshot, the image will be saved to your clipboard, but it will also open up the Snip & Sketch program, which will allow you to draw or crop your new image.
