How to Mark Images as Sensitive on Twitter

Twitter is great for getting up-to-date information on various topics and real-world events. Not all the content shared on Twitter is suitable for all audiences, though. Twitter does a decent job flagging inappropriate content, but users can also flag their own content as sensitive. Here’s how to mark images as sensitive on Twitter.

How to Mark Images as Sensitive on Twitter

To mark your images as sensitive on Twitter:

  1. Open Twitter on your mobile device.
  2. Go to the home tab and tap on your profile picture at the top left.
  3. Scroll down and go to Settings and privacy.
  4. Tap on Privacy and safety.
  5. Tap on Your Tweets.
  6. Toggle on the ‘Mark media you Tweet as containing material that may be sensitive‘ option.

You can mark your tweets as sensitive by toggling on the ‘Mark media you Tweet as containing material that may be sensitive’ option in Twitter’s Privacy and Safety options in the app settings.

When this option is enabled, all your tweets will show up blurred with overlaying text that says, “Content warning: Sensitive content. The Tweet author flagged this Tweet as showing sensitive content.” Users must then click on the ‘Show’ button to see the contents of your tweet.

If you post anything intended for mature audiences, Twitter encourages you to enable this setting. Otherwise, your account may get flagged for posting insensitive content.
